Micky Ward will attend Ringside: A Fight for Kids on Friday, March 13 at Liberty Hall, The Factory in Franklin, TN. The former WBU champion, three-time New England Golden Glove Award winner, and the subject of the Oscar-nominated film “The Fighter" (in which actor Mark Walberg portrayed Micky Ward), he will sit ringside to watch Nashville country music industry powerhouses square off in two “Rumble on the Row” bouts among other amateur fights. The annual boxing gala event supports The Charley Foundation, the Nashville non-profit organization that provides assistance to multiple charitable agencies throughout middle Tennessee assisting disabled and underprivileged children. Micky Ward will be in attendance at the Bullion Belts 2013 charity boxing event on March 4th, 2013 in Toronto, Canada. The event will be held in support of the Right To Play charity www.righttoplay.com, a pioneer that uses sport and play as tools to build essential life skills and create social change.

The night will feature Canadian cruiserweight stand out Denton Daley facing knockout artist Richard Hall for the NABF Cruiserweight title.

Patriots Enjoy "The Fighter"

In an attempt to inspire his squad, Bill Belichick had his team gather as a whole and watch The Fighter. After the movie, Ward gave an inspirational speech about having heart, never giving up and always persevering in every walk of life. He also answered a few questions from the players. After that, Ward hung out for a little bit in the locker room, connected with some of the players and took pictures.

Micky Ward was hospitalized in Massachusetts after he was accidentally bitten by a stray dog. Despite the rumors Micky was attacked by the dog it’s just not true. Micky Ward´s agent Nick Cordasco has said “Micky was simply walking his dog Wednesday when a stray dog approached him and his dog, the stray became aggressive but in a playful way. Micky says he tried to get in between the two animals because he became a little nervous and Micky’s finger was just in the wrong place at the wrong time”. Ward went to the hospital for treatment and remained there until Sunday. Micky wants to let his fans know he is in great spirits and he will be ok. As for the dogs, Ward says he eventually shooed the stray away ... and HIS dog emerged from the incident unscathed.

“Irish” Micky Ward and his brother Dicky Eklund were Grand Marshals of the 22nd Annual Boxing Hall of Fame Parade of Champions. Micky, Dicky and many other boxing legends will pass through the streets of Canastota and lead to the grounds of the Hall of Fame Museum prior to the start of the Official Induction Ceremony honoring the new class of inductees. Living inductees to be honored at the Official Induction Ceremony are Julio Cesar Chavez, Kostya Tszyu, Mike Tyson, trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain, referee Joe Cortez and Sylvester Stallone.

Filming starts on "The Fighter"

Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale will begin filming “The Fighter” July 13 in Lowell. The movie will depict the life of legendary Lowell fighter “Irish” Micky Ward and his half-brother, Dickie Eklund. Wahlberg will play Ward, a former WBU Light Welterweight champion who is best known for engaging in one of the greatest fight trilogies of all-time against Arturo Gatti. Bale will play Eklund, who once fought Sugar Ray Leonard in Boston before receiving a 10-15 year sentence in state prison for several crimes.

Fight Night Round 3 Hits Shelves

The undisputed champion of boxing video games steps into a new arena to deliver EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 3. Micky Ward and Arturo "Thunder" Gatti grace the cover of the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of the game. Ward and Gatti will also serve as official spokespeople for the title.



Micky Ward Announces His Retirement after Ward-Gatti III

Micky Ward and Arturo Gatti had a third fight, on June 7, 2003. Despite dropping Gatti in round six, Ward lost by a ten round unanimous decision. Ward-Gatti III was named Fight of the Year for 2003 by Ring Magazine. After the fight Micky announces his retirement.
